Meyer Announces 2011 Exponent Awards
Today, the Meyer Foundation announced the recipients of its 2011 Exponent Awards, which recognize outstanding nonprofit executive directors. The 2011 Exponent Award recipients are Manny Hidalgo, Executive Director of the Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC); Lecester Johnson, Executive Director of Academy of Hope; and Amy Nakamoto, Executive Director, DC SCORES.
Julie Rogers Featured on Urban Institute Panel
On Tuesday, the Urban Institute hosted a panel discussion on the recession, its aftermath, and the continued strain on nonprofit organizations. Panelists for the event—Nonprofit Outlook: Where's the Light at the End of the Tunnel—included Meyer President and CEO Julie Rogers and other nonprofit and White House Leaders. The topics ranged from how nonprofit organizations and the people they serve are faring to how foundations and nonprofits are working to impact public policy.
Carmen James Lane Elected Chair of Youth Transition Funders Group
Carmen James Lane, Meyer senior program officer, has been elected to a one-year term as chair of the steering committee of Youth Transition Funders Group (YTFG), a leading national network of approximately 175 grantmakers whose mission is to help all youth make a successful transition to adulthood by age 25.
Meyer and CompassPoint Release Three Briefs to Supplement Daring to Lead 2011
Today Meyer and
CompassPoint released The Board Paradox, completing a
series of three briefs based on a national study of more than 3,000
nonprofit executive directors. The briefs report survey results and
findings not included in the Daring to Lead 2011 main report, which was
released in late June.
